the path of love
is available to all
who will embrace and walk this path
none will be barred
but each one must choose for their self
to embrace and walk this path
seek it not for its treasures
although its treasures abound
seek it not for its refuge
although its protection is immense
seek it not for its happiness
although its happiness is unending
seek it not for want or need
although it will align your desires to divine needs
seek it not for company
although this road has fellow travelers
seek it not for peace
although peace has laid the road’s soil
seek it only for love
for love alone is sufficient to draw love
and manifest its universal blessings
for the sake of fulfilling the love of love
i embrace and walk upon
the path of love |
i am
a delicate flower in the hand of the master
blossoming by the touch
anointed by the breath
sated by the sight
(which manifests as a light from the eye)
yet
only a flower in the greatness of all that is
|
one touch of the heart
can inspire millions
to realize what is in their hearts
so be careful in how you touch the heart
(and allow the heart to be touched)
yet let not your caution steal the tenderness
of your touch’s embrace
so that by inspiring one
we may invite the inspiration of millions
to realize what is in their hearts
and touch their own hearts
to inspire millions more...
remember
any beauty realized in the heart
is a beauty universally shared
for all hearts are connected
in (and through) oneness

poem to my unborn children
asahi, perdatta
my children, my love
i feel your soul whispers in my eardrums
calling me to make a way to bring you in this world
a vow i will honor
but hear these words before you fill your embryo with your soul
so you can say you were foretold of what this crazy world
beholds
cause it will not be the same as the love i pray your mother’s
womb consumes you with
and i will be too immersed in happiness to yell these warnings
into the womb
so listen now
before we venture into experience
to find a mother who will bear the incarnation of your earthly
vessel
listen now as i say with the purity of honesty
this is a crazy-ass world you wish to be born into
i live in a world of broken glass bottles and bags that blow in
the wind
serving as fertilizer to the potholes in my concrete lawns
where urban gardens seek life between the cracks in the
sidewalks
only to get pissed or shit upon by unkept dogs
i live in a world of painted faces and untied shoes laces
yet we wonder why we’re tripping all over each other
i live in a world where we’re more fond of entertainment than
wisdom
where we prefer jokes over knowledge, but tragedy is never
funny
i live in a world where we o.d. on conflict
to then detox on peace to then hit the streets to puff on that
conflict stuff again
i live in a world where we take conflict abroad
because we don’t have peace at home
i live in world where we feed the rats by leaving garbage on
the streets
but put mouse traps inside our apartments
i live in a world where lonely people don’t want to be alone
but don’t change their mindset to be able to live with a lover
i live in a world where people buy sexy lingerie
they’re just gonna take off anyway
where we now seek love over the internet
and hope it’s downloadable into real life personal experiences
i live in a world where too many people love those who hate you
and hate those who love you
yet all is (considered) fair in love and war
i live in a world where people have crushes on those who will
break your heart
then we collect the broken pieces, crazy glue them with
emotions for our next crush
i live in a world where people hope against hope
and then get stuck with things no one claims they hoped for
i live in a world where we give reality to illusions
but completely dismiss reality -- not even treat it as an
illusion
i live in a world where finite bodies are given more credence
than eternal souls
and then we wonder why everybody is scared to die
i live in a world where fools are crowned with degrees and
selected for sovereignties
but true wise ones are deemed stupid for their courage to
challenge corruption
i live in a world where people justify their denial, deny true
acceptance
and then wonder why life is miserable when they’re sober (or
alone)
i live in world where people construct identities from external
distractions
while our hearts cry silently in sadness cause they’re ignored
i live in a world where we hide the obvious, make secrets of
confessions
and trust politicians, the media, and neighborhood gossips to
beautify broadcast lies
i live in a world where reality is reconstituted to fit on tv
screens
and real people become the new actors for tv shows that are
supposed to reflect the real world
i live in a world where health is defined as managing sickness
finance defined as managing debt, public safety as managing the
flow of crime
i live in a world where people will ridicule and oppress you
but imitate your way of speak to make urban talk mainstream
(-- and m and m’s now come in white chocolate)
i live in a world where babies’ mommies raise children with
absentee daddies
and marriage has been redefined to include eventual divorce
i live in a world where community meetings to discuss activist
strategies
are replaced by celebrity signings of pimps promoting hiphop
pornography and thugalusion
i live in a world where demonstrations for justice are of
lesser priority
than attending freaknics of adult adolescents celebrating their
confusion about
why god gave us sex
i live in a world where malcolm x is now just the name of a
street, dr. king the name of a holiday
but michael jackson is still the man -- and sometimes michael
jordan
i live in a world where pop stars become pedophiles
but they still reign as millionaires because their music still
sounds good?
i live in a world where people pay ten dollars to see a movie
that grosses millions
but won’t give hungry bums a quarter to get food or a hit --
like movie stars don’t get high
i live in a world where latch key kids go home to be babysit by
tvs
learning that liberation is saving a pokemon; happiness:
singing with a purple dinosaur
i live in a world where kids can’t pass standardized math and
english tests
but they can add up to $49.99 to buy the newest video game and
decipher the instructions
i live in a world where youth are taught that beauty is:
money, light colored skin, thin frames, oversized sexual
organs, and a mind that doesn’t say no
i live in a world where old ladies are scared to get in
elevators with young black men
and then we wonder why young black men don’t give up their
seats to old ladies anymore
i live in a world where teenage sex, stds, abortions, time in
jail, criminal records
and immune deficiencies are considered signs of growth (into
adulthood)
i live in a world where responsibility is treated like amnesia
and you’re encouraged to forget what you’re supposed to be
responsible for
i live in a world where we can correct the bullshit but don’t
instead we defend it, resist against, or act like we’re neutral
but never move beyond
-- the bullshit
i live in the world where few try to change what’s become of
the charades we made
and majorities celebrate that which brings the world closer to
destruction
this is a crazy-ass world i live within
this is a crazy-ass world in which you wish to be born
but in spite of all its craziness
if you come, i welcome your arrival
to teach you of the less traveled roads that can become your
journey
that you may come to be happy
that you may come to be cared for
that you may come to be nurtured, to be whole
that you may come to be loved
as i will love you the best i can
and hope my love is enough to help you overcome
and not be overcomed by this crazy world

a greater vessel divine
i told the gypsy lady
i’m sick of bringing you
wounded psyches seeking
psychic interventions of magic crystal balls
wanting five dollar fortunes of future happy days
cause i no longer believe an old flame put a curse on me
so now it’s time
i break the crystal links of your supposed protection
which have only liberated more confusion in my mind
time to stop running
from the songs of mermaids that reverberate my spiritual waters
embrace the lotus seeds i’ve planted in my personality mud pies
cause the stem always rises to the light before it blossoms
and looking at the reflection of my face in these muddy waters
i am reminded of
my mind’s ability to adapt to its own self-destructive
tendencies
and embrace these just like a romantic cherishes getting shot
in the ass
by a cupid
enough of that
i’m searching for verses that unlock messianic virtues
melting my soul with prophetic parables
cleansing my heart with wisdom
but in the end this is only a poem
a poem longing for redemption
a poem in recovery for atonement
a poem trying to salvage an eternal moment from all time
this is just a poem, not that which it speaks of
because it’s become plain to me
the banshees’ wails i hear foreboding the state
of a society in smelling distance of its own tomb
the censure filled with ashes of past aggression and greed
such that it becomes the fodder of ceremonial incense that
burns
it’s just a matter of if this society will be buried or
cremated
ill-spoken of, forgotten, or celebrated
as the memory of its corpse rots
but even this speaks of me
that i would arrive to live life in this dying society
and in realizing how this reflects my fate
i have some work to do
that’s why i embarked upon this journey of grace
slept in the shadow of birds’ nests
endured the starvation of my desires
that’s why i huddled around campfires of a partially told
history
walked barefoot across the sleeping sands of comfort
cried in dehydration, thirsty for knowledge
and in my haste i’ve drank the poisons of pleasure
blissfully laughing years off my life span -- it was funny at
the time
to only be saved by the antidote of spiritual mercy
learning that forgiveness includes forgiving my self
for having danced with temptation, cutting virtuous holes in
the rug
and pressing my sweaty head upon bloody dance floor altars
i’ve hung my soul upon universal crosses
nailed stakes of gold into my own wrists and ankles
to discover the afterlife of truth
beyond the crucifixion of my ego
i’ve made sacred pilgrimages into caves of solitude
and now know angels can be the best of friends
and in the celestial silence i’ve heard the voice of god
that’s why i’m really not good at small talk any more
i’ve caught assassin’s bullets in my head
shattering the skull of my concepts
as my brain matter was splattered with the blood of wisdom
i’ve been stabbed with daggers in the chest
severing the aorta of emotions from my beating heart
taking shallow breaths as i bled to deeper depths
i’ve been jailed and beaten in the weakness of false pride
but now i see the prize
cause there are no bars big or wide enough to incarcerate
the strength of divine humility
are you feeling me
as i lay my faith upon altars for human sacrifices
the priest holding the axe of death over my throat
but i told you i heard the voice of god and it said
if you’re willing to die for this
then be willing to live for it too
stand and claim your martyrdom
for ultimate sacrifices were never regulated to death wishes
just give all that you are
and let the selfishness of self die
and commit all that is left to this holy purpose purified
to become a greater vessel divine
